Charley: Privacy policy

• What is stored: your messages and everything Charley saves from them (facts, goals, tasks, events, people, preferences), plus your Telegram ID and name. If you mention other people, such as family or colleagues, their details are stored too, so please share only what is appropriate.
• Where: in a database on a server in Finland (Helsinki, Hetzner). Telegram also keeps the chat itself, and bot chats are not end-to-end encrypted.
• Who else sees it: to answer you, your messages and saved data are sent to OpenAI, our AI provider.
• Optional calendar link: if you connect Google Calendar (/google), Charley reads the titles, times and locations (never descriptions or guest lists) of the calendars you choose, and writes the events you ask it to create. These events are used like your other data, including being sent to OpenAI. The access token is stored encrypted, and you can disconnect at any time.
• Optional Gmail link: if you connect Gmail (also in /google), Charley can search and read your email when you ask, and never sends, changes or deletes any. The text of the messages it reads, and the words it reads out loud, are sent to OpenAI. If you ask Charley to tell you about new mail, it looks at the sender, subject and the start of each new message to decide what to mention, and keeps a short line about the ones it will mention until it has told you. The access token is stored encrypted, and you can disconnect at any time.
• Photos and documents: if you send Charley a photo or a file, it is sent to OpenAI to read, and then kept on our server, encrypted, together with a short description Charley writes. Files are deleted automatically after 90 days. You can see, download and delete your files with /files. Files that look like an ID, payment card, bank statement, password or medical record are deleted straight away and not kept; this check is automatic and not perfect, so please don't send such files at all.
• Voice: if you send a voice message, the audio is sent to OpenAI to be turned into text. We do not keep the audio, only the text. When you ask Charley to talk, or speak to it, it answers in an AI-generated voice, usually instead of text; the words of the answer are sent to OpenAI to be spoken.
• Conversation notes: after each conversation, and after each week, Charley writes a short summary of what you talked about, so it can pick up where you left off. The summaries are kept with your other data until you reset or delete it, they are sent to OpenAI like your messages, and they are included in /export. Charley is told to leave sensitive details out of them.
• Usage counts: Charley keeps simple counts of what it does for you, per day, such as reminders sent, tasks completed, events added, emails summarized or opened, and voice replies. It also keeps, for 30 days, a short log of each reply: whether it came by text or voice, which model answered, and which tools were used. These records never contain the text of your messages or emails. They are kept with your other data, included in /export, and deleted when you delete your data.
• Web search: Charley can search the web to answer you. The words it searches for are sent to OpenAI and its search provider. Charley is told not to put your personal details in a search unless you ask it to.
• Please don't share passwords, PINs, bank or card numbers, ID numbers or secret keys. Charley refuses to save them, but your message may still pass through the systems above.
• Retention: raw messages are deleted automatically after 90 days. Saved facts, goals, tasks, events and people stay until you delete them or your account.
• Your rights: /export sends you a copy of your data. /deleteme permanently deletes your account and data (copies in server backups expire on a schedule; data held by Telegram or OpenAI is outside our control). Questions or requests: privacy@thisischarley.com.
• Charley is an AI assistant, not a doctor, therapist, lawyer or financial advisor.

Google user data: Charley's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Calendar data is used only to provide the calendar features you asked for. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to train AI models. You can revoke access at any time in your Google account settings or with /calendar in the chat.

Website visitors

If you ask for an invite on this website, we store your name, email address and phone number, the language of the page, and a one-way fingerprint of your connection that is used only to limit abuse. We use them only to contact you about an invite. The Charley administrator can see them. They are deleted after 90 days, or sooner if you ask privacy@thisischarley.com. We do not sell or share them, and this website sets no cookies.

• תמונות ומסמכים: אם תשלחו ל-Charley תמונה או קובץ, הם נשלחים ל-OpenAI לקריאה, ואז נשמרים בשרת שלנו מוצפנים, יחד עם תיאור קצר ש-Charley כותב. קבצים נמחקים אוטומטית לאחר 90 ימים. אפשר לראות, להוריד ולמחוק את הקבצים עם /files. קבצים שנראים כמו תעודה מזהה, כרטיס אשראי, דף חשבון בנק, סיסמה או מסמך רפואי נמחקים מיד ולא נשמרים; הבדיקה אוטומטית ואינה מושלמת, ולכן בבקשה אל תשלחו קבצים כאלה בכלל.
• הודעות קוליות: אם תשלחו הודעה קולית, ההקלטה נשלחת ל-OpenAI כדי להפוך אותה לטקסט. אנחנו לא שומרים את ההקלטה, רק את הטקסט. כשאתם מבקשים מ-Charley לדבר, או מדברים אליו, הוא עונה בקול שנוצר בבינה מלאכותית, בדרך כלל במקום טקסט; מילות התשובה נשלחות ל-OpenAI כדי להישמע בקול.

• חיפוש באינטרנט: Charley יכול לחפש באינטרנט כדי לענות לכם. מילות החיפוש נשלחות ל-OpenAI ולספק החיפוש שלה. Charley מונחה לא לכלול פרטים אישיים שלכם בחיפוש אלא אם ביקשתם.
• בבקשה אל תשתפו סיסמאות, קודי PIN, מספרי חשבון בנק או כרטיס אשראי, מספרי זהות או מפתחות סודיים. Charley מסרב לשמור אותם, אך ההודעה שלכם עדיין עלולה לעבור במערכות שלמעלה.
• שמירה: הודעות גולמיות נמחקות אוטומטית לאחר 90 ימים. עובדות, יעדים, משימות, אירועים ואנשים שנשמרו נשארים עד שתמחקו אותם או את החשבון.
• הזכויות שלכם: /export שולח לכם עותק של המידע שלכם. /deleteme מוחק לצמיתות את החשבון והמידע (עותקים בגיבויי השרת פגים לפי לוח זמנים; מידע שמוחזק אצל טלגרם או OpenAI אינו בשליטתנו). שאלות ובקשות: privacy@thisischarley.com.
• Charley הוא עוזר בינה מלאכותית, לא רופא, מטפל, עורך דין או יועץ פיננסי.

מידע ממשתמשי Google: השימוש של Charley במידע שמתקבל מממשקי Google, וההעברה שלו, עומדים במדיניות נתוני המשתמש של שירותי Google API, כולל דרישות השימוש המוגבל. נתוני היומן משמשים רק לתכונות היומן שביקשתם. הם אינם נמכרים, אינם משמשים לפרסום ואינם משמשים לאימון מודלי בינה מלאכותית. אפשר לבטל את ההרשאה בכל עת בהגדרות חשבון Google או באמצעות /calendar בצ'אט.
